Working with the chakras Part 3. The Solar Plexus Chakra

This third installment of the series is a bit late, but as they say, better late than never. So let’s roll into exploring the Solar Plexus chakra!

The Solar Plexus chakra, also called Manipura, “The Lustrous Gem”, is located in our solar plexus area (duh!), close to where our ribs meet. It’s associated with the upper stomach area, where we perceive a lot of fears and emotions, so it’s a great chakra to work with to improve clairsentience.

The Solar Plexus chakra is associated with the yellow colour and is all about individuality, personal power, success, self-esteem, and self-confidence. We can work with the Solar Plexus chakra to feel more in control of our lives, and when we want to avoid “victim consciousness”. The Solar Plexus chakra is therefore associated with personal responsibility.

We also want to strengthen our Solar Plexus chakra when we hold fears pertaining to the Self, such as lack of self-esteem, fear of rejection, or the “impostor syndrome” (when you feel you don’t deserve all the good stuff that is coming your way).

The Solar Plexus is great to work with in conjunction with other chakras or other areas in need of healing. Most of the time, during healing work a little extra self-confidence won’t hurt to achieve the desired results. So if you are working on a personal project, your career, or any other chakra, the Solar Plexus is a nice one to add to the mix.

I’ve designed a short spread to assess the main questions related to the Solar Plexus Chakra. I ended up pulling only one card from the Dreams of Gaia Tarot at is was so powerful and deep. You can use one or four cards for this reading.

  1. How do you like/respect yourself?

This card is all about self-perception. The role of self-perception in our lives should not be underestimated (that’s why there is a position for it in the Celtic Cross). With my card, the Crone, we see an older woman holding a wand and with a raven as companion. She seems full of personal power, and hell-yeah she likes herself! Through the years she has grown to understand her true Self and the place she takes in the universe. She possesses that strength and inner wisdom that only comes with experience. I think my Solar Plexus is maturing in its power, and I’m growing to like and respect myself better.

2.Β Do you need approval?

The Crone does not look like she needs approval. She knows her priorities (and she comes first), she is unmoved and unapologetic. She may be a bit too distant sometimes. She does not seek to please but may come off as hard-hearted. I feel this card in this position has both light and shadow meanings.

3.Β What is your attitude to commitment and responsibility?

The Crone only has responsibility to one: herself (and maybe that friendly raven). She has chosen not to bear children, but has done so out of a great sense of responsibility. Even if she seems aloof and commitment-phobe, she understands very well the meaning of responsibility, and takes it very seriously. In some way, she is more aware of commitment than people who get into relationships light-heartedly, only to regret it later. Her view of responsibility is very serious and could do with some lightening up!

4.Β What fears do you hold in relation to your personal power?

No, this Crone is absolutely fearless! She is authentic and revels in her personal power.Β She has considerable power not because she doesn’t feel fears, rather she has confronted and accepted them.

I hope you found this spread inspiring. As for me, I have really enjoyed journalling about the archetype of the Crone. Love xx
